Esta primavera estarán en las puertas de San Antonio…
y ahora que están dentro de la isla es difícil eliminarlas.
A pesar de que siento hay una gran preocupación local por las serpientes,
éstas ya se han convertido en parte del entorno.
Cuentan que la primera serpiente en Ibiza fue vista en la Villa de San José de Sa Talaia en el 2003, después que un hombre le echara agua a un olivo importado de Córdoba. La serpiente salió del árbol, como huésped inesperado.
Un olivo viejo es como un paisaje bíblico, con muchos túneles y espacios donde habitar.
La importación de árboles ornamentales a la isla, se ha puesto de moda, por la gran demanda turística de crear jardines mediterráneos y sin duda, una de las posibles vías migratorias para la nueva especie invasora.
Movilidad…los seres humanos se han desplazado por el globo desde sus comienzos, exterminando poblaciones y todo tipo de especies, pero aceptando también los cambios y transformaciones necesarios para crear nuevos espacios. La tierra está siempre en movimiento y el universo se expande producto del intercambio y la movilización.

The importation of ornamental trees to the island has become fashionable, due to the great tourist demand to create Mediterranean gardens and undoubtedly, one of the possible migratory routes for the new invasive species.
Mobility…humans have moved around the globe since its beginnings, exterminating populations and all kinds of species, but also accepting the changes and transformations necessary to create new spaces. The earth is always in motion and the universe expands as a result of exchange and mobilization.

My name is Clemencia Labin. I am a Venezuelan artist living and working in Germany. I graduated from the Hamburg Academy of Arts (HfBK) and studied with the professors: Kai Sudeck, Franz Erhard Walther and Sigmar Polke. Diplom: 1990
Mein Name ist Clemencia Labin. Ich bin Venezolanerin und lebe und arbeite als Künstlerin in Hamburg. Studiert habe ich an der Hochschule für Bildende Künste Hamburg (HfBK) bei Kai Sudeck, Franz Erhard Walther und Sigmar Polke. – Diplom 1990.
Mi nombre es Clemencia Labin. Soy una artista plástica venezolana con residencia en Alemania. Estudios en la Academia de Arte de Hamburgo con los profesores Kai Sudeck, Franz Erhard Walther y Sigmar Polke. Diploma 1990

Clemencia Labin es pintora y artista de performance. 1946 nace en Maracaibo, Venezuela donde
reside hasta 1970 cuando se traslada a Nueva York a realizar sus estudios en Columbia University.
1972 recibe el Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) y en 1974 el Master en Business Administration (M.B.A.).
1975 se traslada a Alemania. De 1985 a 1990 realiza estudios en la HfbK o Academia de Arte de
Hamburgo con los profesores Kai Sudeck, Franz E. Walther y Sigmar Polke. 2000 inicia y organiza
el proyecto „Velada Santa Lucía“ en su ciudad natal Maracaibo, Venezuela. Trece años consecutivos
de realizar la Velada, convierten al evento en un punto de referencia artística nacional e internacional.
2013 cierra el ciclo y termina el festival de arte con una Gran Velada Final y la participación
de más de 400 creadores. 2011 representa a Venezuela en la 54. Bienal de Venecia.
Exposiciones individuales y de grupo desde 1990.
Vive y trabaja en Hamburgo, Alemania.

Clemencia Labin is a visual and performance artist. She was born in Maracaibo, Venezuela in
1946. She grew up and went to school in Caracas before moving to New York in 1970 to attend
College. In 1972 she obtained a Bachelor of Arts, and in 1974 a Master’s degree in Business
Administration from Columbia University in New York. 1985 Labin then moved to Germany and attended the Hamburg Academy of Art until 1990, where she studied under Kai Sudeck, Franz Erhard Walther and Sigmar Polke. In 2000 she was instrumental in establishing an art festival in Maracaibo, Venezuela, called Velada Santa Lucía. The annual festival showing international and South American artists ran for 13 years until Labin completed the project in 2013. In 2011, Labin represented Venezuela at the 54th Venice Biennale.
Solo and group shows since 1990 till the present.
She currently lives and works in Hamburg, Germany.
